  • I am BlerdNation because...

My nerdom runs deep, it’s not a trend; it’s life of continual learning.

  • Who is your blerd role model? Why?

One guy I have the utmost blerd respect for is Jace Clayton aka DJ /rupture. He’s a seriously brilliant DJ/artist/writer living in New York. I had the opportunity of booking him for an event and his knowledge of culture and music blew me away.

  • How do you stay connected to other blerds?

Star Trek Communicators, Echolocation, and Craigslist ‘Missed Connections’. Seriously though, social media hubs like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram are great for staying connected. Occasionally I go low-tech with phone calls.

  • What’s your most awkward blerd moment?

No particular moment, well I’ll say a series of moments called “High School”.

  • What’s your favorite word/phrase?

    “aw mane”

  • What are your goals/passions?

One day I’d like to be a globetrotting DJ/music writer. Right now I’m just reading and learning so I can be prepared for whatever opportunities present themselves.

  • What are you listening to, watching, or reading that impacts you or that is giving you a different perspective?

Adam Harper's book "Infinite Music: Imagining The Next Millennium of Human Music Making". Even the title blows your mind.

  • Are there any famous, or not-so-famous, people that you think would be a great addition to BlerdNation?

Toure. His 2011 book “Who’s Afraid of Post-Blackness” should be required reading for all blerds and open minded people.

  • What advice would you give to other blerds?

As Toure said in “Who’s Afraid of Post-Blackness” be rooted in but not defined by your blackness.
